  • General information about getting involved in PAGE28 as an elected representative

As an elected representative for Page28, you are elected at the organization’s annual meeting to either sit on the board or for a specific role outside of the board. The board’s work is a mix of practical and operational and means you meet the rest of the board approximately every other week and in addition to being responsible for your specific area in between. You often lead a group, such as our purchasing group, communication group or economy group. It is the group who does most of the work within your area and your job is to make sure the group works towards the organizations common goals, lead the work, and jump in when needed. On the board, you are involved in making decisions about how the organization should develop, resolve issues that affect the organization as a whole and help others on the board brainstorm ideas and support each other in your different roles and areas of responsibility. The work on the PAGE board takes about 5-7 hrs/week and is a voluntary position.

  • As a bilingual organization, we encourage anyone who is interested to apply to the board. Most roles do require a certain level of Swedish in order to execute their responsibilities (check the descriptions!) and in general communication takes place in both languages, but our priority is to build the best board possible to support Page’s work! There are lots of opportunities to get involved with groups too and in general it’s a great way to work on your Swedish. Get in touch if you have specific questions or concerns

Vill du vara med? Sök senast 15 april! Mejla valberedningen@pagekulturscen.se med ditt namn, pronomen, vilken/vilka poster du vill söka och varför. Valberedningen kontaktar dig med vidare information!

Do you want to get involved? Apply by April 15th! Email valberedningen@pagekulturscen.se with your name, pronouns, which role(s) you are applying for and why. Valberedningen will get in touch with further information!

Board roles to fill by the 2025 annual meeting

Chairperson and Vice chairperson

The chairperson and vice chairperson are responsible for the entirety of PAGE 28 - your job is to lead the board's work to create the LGBTQ bookstore, queer cultural scene and meeting place that is PAGE 28 now and in the future. You lead the board meetings, write agendas and work to develop the organization and our goal of a queer cultural center. You are also an important contact for members of the organization and external partners. You should apply if you find leadership and business development fun and rewarding and preferably have experience of being involved in running an organization before. This role requires good skills in both Swedish and English.

Secretary

As secretary for the organization, you are responsible for the administrative tasks of the board. You take minutes of board meetings, are responsible for the membership register, archiving important documents and generally help with all the paperwork required to run an operation like ours. You are also responsible for the organization's formalities, for example by ensuring that notices to annual meetings are sent out on time and the like. This role is perfect for those who enjoy formality and structure and want to put your skills to use to make it possible for us to spread more queer literature and culture to the people. This role requires good skills in both Swedish and English.

Community coordinator

The role of community coordinator is a new role in PAGE 28 and means that you will be at the heart of the organization's daily operations. Your job is to ensure that the organization's different branches collaborate and help see that joint projects are implemented according to plan. To succeed in the role, it is important you enjoy collaborating with others and like to work in a structured way. The role is new and its exact design will be worked out together with the vice chairperson and chairperson. This role requires good skills in both Swedish and English.

Cultural producer

Do you want to be PAGE 28's own event elf and curate all the events that our cultural scene stands for? Then apply to be a cultural producer! The position is suitable for someone that is passionate about queer culture and wants to work to make Malmö's cultural life even more exciting, vibrant and queer. Your work includes applying for grants, coming up with ideas for program items and curating the cultural program, liaising with cultural workers and taking care of everything surrounding our events. Previous experience working with cultural events is good, but the most important thing is that you have a strong drive and a passion for highlighting queer artistic expressions! This role requires good skills in both Swedish and English.

Unlike other positions that are completely voluntary, the position as cultural producer includes a compensation of 20% for curating the cultural program. In addition, you are expected to continue to spend some voluntary time as part of the board work.

Meeting place manager

Do you want to develop PAGE's role as a meeting place for Malmö's queers? The role of meeting place manager is an exciting and varied role that can mean many different things. You have a great deal of flexibility and the possibilities are endless for what you can create with the bookstore as a meeting place for the LGBTQI community. As a meeting place manager, you get the chance to meet other queers, network and, not least, be sensitive to people’s thoughts and opinions so that together we create a safer space. This role requires good skills in both Swedish and English

Bookstore manager

As a bookstore manager, you are primarily responsible for the development and functioning of the bookstore part of PAGE 28. The role means that you support and lead our purchasing group and webshop group and work to ensure that we have a wide and varied selection. In the role of purchasing manager, collaboration with different groups is required and a willingness to cooperate is important. The role is perfect for those who enjoy working in a team with others and want to build PAGE 28 into an even more fantastic bookstore! This role requires good skills in both Swedish and English.

Communicator

As communicator, you are primarily responsible for the organization's external communication. You are in charge of the communications group, which produces graphic material and takes photos at events. You are both creative and strategic, and should have a good grasp of social media! It is also helpful if you have experience or interest in leadership since you will be leading the communications group. This is a fun and challenging position that means varied work and great development opportunities, as well as the opportunity to get to know a fun group of creative people, and of course recruit more if necessary! This role requires good skills in both Swedish and English

Volunteer Coordinator/HR

Volunteer Coordinator is an exciting and fun role, where your main focus is our fantastic volunteers. You set the schedule, plan fun volunteer hangouts and make sure that the base of our organization is doing well. It is the perfect role for you who want to help develop our queer Malmö and make sure that our bookstore stays alive. This role requires good skills in both Swedish and English

Finance manager

Being the finance manager in PAGE means comprehensive responsibility for the organization’s finances. Together with the fantastic finance group, which you lead, you do the accounting, budgeting and support the board and the groups in matters related to finances. Since finances are central to the entire organization, as finance manager you get a good overview of everything that is happening and a behind-the-scenes look at all our events. The position also involves long-term planning regarding the organization's financing, which grants to apply for and how our finances can function better. In addition, you are the organization's representative for bank and tax authorities, as well as in any matters concerning the organization's finances! To succeed in the position, it is good to have previous experience in accounting and financial management, but you will learn a lot over time! This role requires good skills in Swedish

Ledamot/Board member

As ledamot (member of PAGE’s board), you get to work with just about anything in PAGE based on interest and need. This can include grant applications, contact with external partners, support in other board members’ areas of responsibility, and more. The work is everything from creative and strategic to operational and administrative. A large part of the ledamot’s work is filling the gaps and providing support. You should therefore be flexible, take the initiative and enjoy collaboration. This is a role that offers variety and possibilities and which can be shaped according to you and your interests!

(Note that this role does not require a high level of Swedish and is therefore a great opportunity for international volunteers who wish to get involved and even develop their Swedish abilities!)

The role of the safety representative is to be the volunteers' and members' representative on the board. The position is a new role, which will be developed by you together with the volunteers and the board. Being an active volunteer in the organization currently is an advantage. This role requires good skills in Swedish and English.

Nomination committee

The nomination committee is the group that handles the important work of developing a proposal for elected representatives for the annual meeting. The work involves designing and implementing an interview process and coming up with a great proposal for who next year's board, nomination committee and auditor will be. The work as a nomination committee involves most work in the period February-April when you conduct the interviews before the annual meeting. You should also be available and willing to be involved in the organization during the rest of the year to develop recruitment, help at extra annual meetings and get to know the members. You have access to the work of the board and play an important role as an advisor when the board needs to discuss questions about organization and finances. At the annual meeting, you review what has happened during the year, both regarding operations and finances, and report to the members. It is good if you are meticulous as a person and have experience within organizations and finances. This role requires good skills in Swedish.
